After working with 300+ businesses/entrepreneurs, Andrew Brisbin, Direct of Ventures at Allia has concluded that we (the broader UK entrepreneur ecosystem) have another substantial issue to tackle. Financial literacy.

Three social enterprise start-ups are celebrating the successful completion of the DIF Allia Accelerator Challenge at a demo day, which concluded with a share out of a £30,000 prize fund. For the last six months, the ventures have worked with teams from DIF Capital Partners, who have given bespoke mentoring and coaching to help them develop and grow their businesses.

Last week we were excited to welcome investors, founders and interested parties from across the impact space to our packed BRAN Accelerator Challenge Demo Day, where eight inspiring ventures hit the stage to pitch for investment and shout about the amazing work they are doing to better our society and planet.

Last week saw the opening of award-winning photographer Julian Claxton’s latest exhibition, Fotograf, at our Future Business Centre at the Cambridge Guildhall. Established in 2015, Fotograf (previously Give a Child a Camera) is a programme of photography workshops designed to ‘enrich, inspire and empower’ young people in East Africa. The resulting exhibition is a collection of uplifting, insightful images taken by Ugandan children, capturing their authentic stories from their own perspective

From fields such as food waste reduction, transforming plastic into low-carbon building products to building nature-related intelligence gathering – all of the ventures on our Accelerator Challenge are addressing global challenges in innovative ways. And we want you to meet them!
