The venture

Catch Rhys is an independent responsible jewellery brand. They make solid 9ct gold and sterling silver jewellery that’s honestly priced, fairly marketed, and ethically sourced.

The challenge – what inspired your venture

Inspired by the rings my mum hasn’t taken off for 40+ years, I went hunting for simple solid gold classics and realised the options were limited; mass- produced and low quality or wildly expensive. I wanted to create a new type of jewellery brand, one with a clear focus; to make jewellery that can be lived in, at an honest price point, in the most responsible way possible.

I had no previous experience in business, so had to learn everything as I go. I struggled with how to prioritise my time, finances and what to focus on, especially as my business grew. I also had issues with finding the right supply chains as sourcing ethically is a real challenge.

The result – how the programme helped

The programme supported me in structuring my business and my business aims. I found the 1-1 mentoring sessions particularly useful as the team was able provide me with the tools and financial business skills that I was lacking.

Our new website has just launched, and I am now turning my attention to improving my supply chain, increasing customers and revenue and feel so much better equipped to do so. We’re even on track to achieve 100% recycled metals in my jewellery by the end of 2021.
