What critical problem is Wearth addressing?

Plastic waste is devastating our environment in countless ways. However, consumer products continue to be made and packaged with large amounts of plastic despite the growing demand for plastic-free alternatives. This has inhibited the ability of consumers in the UK, as well as around the world, to reduce their plastic usage due to the limited options made available by retailers both on the high street and online.

How do you provide a solution to this problem?

We partner with brands which use environmentally-friendly and responsibly-sourced materials and packaging to keep plastic to an absolute minimum. We also have a whole category dedicated to zero waste products including toiletries, coffee cups, cleaning products and other household items which are effective, reusable and biodegradable alternatives.

What was the inspiration behind Wearth?

As people in our twenties we are one of the generations that will start to see the full impact of climate change. We felt the retail industry could do a lot more to become sustainable. With an interest in e-commerce we saw an opportunity to help move the retail industry into the right direction while starting a business that we were passionate about.

With the wide range of support on offer, the Future 20 programme will help build on the early success of our business and propel Wearth forward to ensure we reach our ambition of promoting sustainable living for consumers both in the UK and around the world
